This week we started reading Joshua. Found immediately after the Pentateuch, Joshua outlines in descriptive detail the Israelite's conquest of Canaan as promised by Yahweh to Abraham in Genesis.
We started Joshua by looking at Deuteronomy 7. Here the Deuteronomistic History is outlined: When Israel follows Yahweh, all is well; when Israel strays from Yahweh, all falls apart. The DH governs, and helps us understand, the narrative action that unfolds in Joshua, Samuel and Kings.
In Joshua, we specifically looked at chapters 1-5:12. Here, the story of Rahab is relayed and Joshua prepares troops for battle.
